ICT Conference on
Cyber Security Awareness
in Rural Communities

ICT Conference on Cybersecurity Awareness in Rural Communities seek to educate rural internet and technology users with regard to basic cyber security. The conference will explore the importance of cybersecurity in rural communities, the unique challenges they face, and practical steps to enhance digital security.

In line with the President’s philosophy of leaving no place and no one behind, the ICT Association of Zimbabwe in collaboration with the Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services and other key stakeholders will engage villagers in curbing cyber bullying and cyber security through presentation and discussions.

The conference will also inform policy makers and planners on key issues that can contribute to the development of a firm and inclusive future-proof cyber security policy that can build confidence in the adoption of ICTs by rural communities in their daily socio-economic activities.

Conference Objectives

 

The basic objectives of the conference can be

enumerated as to raise awareness on cybersecurity in rural communities with the aim of:

 

  • Protecting personal information and data from theft or unauthorized access.

 

  • Supporting local businesses to avoid disruption of their operations, leading to financial losses and potential closure.

 

  • Safeguarding critical infrastructure in rural areas such as power grids, water supply systems, and agricultural operations.                                                                                            

  • Increasing and accelerating awareness of cybersecurity to contribute to the overall digital resilience of our country
